Alcohol and Drug Counselor CAADAC, CATC, CATC-i
JOB DESCRIPTION – RECOVERY COUNSELOR The Counselor reports directly to the Chief Clinical Officer and Management Team. This is a PT/FT position. The ideal Candidate is required to have a certification as a CAADAC, CATC or CACT-i; 2+ years experience working with substance dependent individuals and have familiarity with the 12-Step Model of Recovery. SUMMARY: The Counselor at Sustain Recovery is responsible for developing and executing individual treatment plan, conducting peer recovery groups and individualized sessions with Sustain Recovery residents, educating residents of the disease concept of addiction and 12-Step philosophies, and documentation of all client participation and assessments. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct initial assessment on substance abuse history, participate in the development of the Master Individual Treatment Plan which addresses recovery hurdles, short and long term goals, interventions and discharge criteria for assigned residents. Review and update substance abuse treatment plans, participate in weekly treatment team and staff meetings, update problem areas, progress and discharge plan on a weekly basis for assigned residents. Facilitate groups sessions as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer and Management Team Responsible for completion of assigned client chart/medical record including all forms and records. Notifies Chief Clinical Officer and Management Team of any deficiencies outside of personal scope. Consistently monitors and evaluates resident behavior and assess degrees of improvement in behavior and treatment goals. Maintain personal interaction with all residents and assist in immediate problem solving during crisis situations. Ability to maintain healthy boundaries, set limits and manage residents in various therapeutic settings. Facilitate one-to-one sessions with assigned caseload of residents and encourage resident participation in the development of individual treatment plan. Enforce the rules and regulations of Sustain Recovery including executing behavioral/recovery contracts as needed. With written consent, facilitate communication with outside consultants and concerned parties acting as a treatment team liaison on a weekly basis or as needed. Development of the residents' Discharge Plan and update the plan on a periodic basis as resident moves through the treatment program. Attend all treatment planning meetings and utilize feedback from treatment team in the development and update of the individual treatment plan. Attend weekly staff meeting and any Quality Assurance meetings. Ongoing review and development of group treatment curriculum including content, process, and structure. Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer and Management Team. Demonstrates skill sets in conducting goal-oriented recovery groups. Demonstrates skills in conducting groups oriented to social skills, identification of triggers and high risk relapse situations, social pressures to use, motivation for recovery, and in development of adolescent personal recovery plans.
