Direct Support Professional / Caregiver

Since 1986, Caring Hearts Home- Daly City, a Level 3 Adult Residential Facility (ARF) in Daly City, is seeking calm, compassionate, and reliable individuals to join our team as Caregiver/Direct Support Professionals (DSP). Our facility serves 6 clients with developmental disabilities adults 18-59 years old.

Staffing: 2 staff to 6 clients.

We are looking for someone who remains calm and collected in any situation, can drive to assist with client appointments and errands, and is open to working overtime as needed. Someone who has experience with down syndrome individuals.

Responsibilities

(LIVE-IN NOT PAID IF YOU ARE JUST SLEEPING IN A DESIGNATED STAFF BED ROOM):

• Client Support: Assist with daily activities, including personal care, hygiene, incontinence- adult diaper or pull-up changes, showering/bathing/ and mobility as needed, exercising.
• Daily Living Assistance: Support with meal preparation, housekeeping, daily chores, and maintaining a clean and safe environment, administering medication.
• Problem-Solving: Stay calm and level-headed during emergencies or challenging situations, ensuring client safety.
• Documentation: Keep accurate daily records of activities and observations using basic computer skills and writing.
• Medication Administer: Administer or supervise medication following training and facility guidelines. Ordering medication.

Requirements:

• Social security with status Only
• Certification: Preferred to have valid DSP 1 Certificate or Open to get training and receive their cert. within 1 year of employment.
• First Aid Certificate IS A MUST
• IDENTITFICATION IS A MUST
• SOCIAL SECURITY WITH STATUS IS A MUST
• LIVE-SCAN Criminal Background Check- Fingerprinting before start or Transfer of Background check.
• HEALTH SCREENING & TB test (or be willing to obtain or show proof of test result).
• EXPERIENCE with caregiving for Developmental Disabled People

• Must read and write (basic documentation)
• Calm, patient, and reliable demeanor, especially during challenging situations.
• Basic English speaking, reading, and writing skills. Mandarin is a plus
• Familiarity with basic computer typing and record-keeping.

LIVE-IN OPPORTUNITY

Caring Hearts Home offers a live-in Direct Support Professional (DSP) opportunity for qualified candidates.

• A 30-day trial period is required prior to transitioning into a live-in role
• Must be available to work Wednesday through Sunday (required schedule – no exceptions)
• Days off: Monday and Tuesday
• Expected to work 35 - 40 hours per week
• Must be dependable, maintain consistent attendance, and be able to support overnight presence on THURSDAY, FRI., SAT., SUN. NIGHT.
• Requred to have 2 staff at the home at night.
• Clients go to day program M-F
