Position: Supported Living Services Instructor (SLS)
Program: 24 HR SLS
Reports to: Clinical Director
Employment Status: Part-time and full-time / Non-exempt
Hourly Pay: $21.00 - $23.00
Location: Various sites within the community of South-Central Los Angeles and the client’s home
Shifts Available:
Evening 2pm to 10pm
Overnight 12pm to 8am
Summary
Wrap Around Me is dedicated to caring for adults with developmental disabilities and helping them live their best life. We’re currently looking for Supported Living Services Instructors (SLS) to join our team. SLS Instructors provide individuals with developmental disabilities training and support according to the consumer’s preference, interest and Individual Program Plan goals and objectives. Support is provided in the home setting, assistance with acquisition of community-based services, work opportunities, educational opportunities and with housing options.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide individuals with training, instruction and support.
- Meal preparation, budgeting, routine household activities, and common daily living activities.
- Assist individuals with community activities; grocery shopping, banking, searching for employment, obtaining a library card, driving to and from appointments, etc.
- Assist with applications for generic community services such as: CalFresh, DPSS, IHSS, SSI.
- Aid with feeding, dressing, grooming, hygiene and medication
- Driving consumers to and from appointments.
- Provide training, support, guidance and assistance if working with parent and child on parenting responsibilities such as health, bonding, safety, and child development, etc.
- Attend meetings and training.
- Respond to emergencies by providing the necessary services.
- Manage and Audit field/case notes and other administrative paperwork.
- Implement leisure activities for consumers to participate in as requested.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Clinical Director.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A passion for helping others.
- Experience working with the developmentally disabled population preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance.
- Completion of Health Screening and TB Test
- Satisfactory References
- DSP 1 and DSP 2 Certifications preferred (or must be willing to obtain)
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Must have a vehicle in working order, a valid driver’s license and registration, proof of auto insurance, and an acceptable record.
- Good communication, basic math and computer skills.
- Willingness to complete and apply training.
