- Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Locum Tenens
- Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
- Start Date: September 15, 2025
- End Date: December 15, 2025
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 5x8-hour evening shifts (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekends: No weekends required (optional call hours available)
- Patient Population: Adult surgical patients
- Unit: Operating Room (OR)
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2270 - $2440
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active California RN license (required for submission)
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or American Red Cross)
- Minimum 2 years of recent operating room nursing experience (orthopedic, general, ophthalmic procedures)
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Ability to provide two professional references from the past year
- Available for lab work within 3-5 days of signing
- Compliance with facility background and travel nurse requirements
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to surgical patients in the operating room
- Assist with orthopedic, general, and ophthalmic surgeries
- Demonstrate proficiency in procedures such as lobe/lung resection, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, arthroscopy, spinal fusion, joint replacement, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and more
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, fire safety, laser safety, and radiation safety protocols
- Accurately handle and label surgical specimens
- Participate in Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Support wound management and administration of blood products
