Job Summary:
The Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing compassionate, person-centered care and supervision to adults with developmental disabilities in a licensed adult residential facility. This role ensures the health, safety, well-being, and individual program goals of each resident are supported in accordance with Title 22 regulations, the facility’s program design, and Regional Center requirements.
NOC Shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide 24-hour care and supervision as outlined in individual program plans (IPPs)

Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility

Support residents in developing independent living skills (cooking, laundry, budgeting, etc.)

Administer and document medications per physician orders and facility protocols

Implement behavioral strategies and intervention plans

Monitor and document daily activities, behaviors, and incidents using required forms and electronic documentation systems

Maintain a clean, safe, and home-like environment

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provide input on resident progress

Accompany residents to appointments, recreational outings, and community integration activities

Communicate professionally with residents, family members, healthcare providers, and Regional Center representatives

Follow emergency procedures and respond appropriately to crises, injuries, or behavioral incidents

Attend all required in-service training and staff meetings
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
At least 18 years of age

Minimum of six months of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities (preferred)

Completion of Direct Support Professional (DSP) I and II or willingness to complete within the required timeframe

First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment)

Health screening and TB clearance

Fingerprint clearance through Live Scan (DOJ/FBI/Child Abuse Index)

Valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record (if transporting residents)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Understanding of Title 22, Title 17, and Community Care Licensing regulations

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities

Basic computer and documentation skills

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
